Lee Shea Architect focuses exclusively on custom residential design. Each project is a creative collaboration, begun by helping a client clarify their functional needs, aesthetic aspirations, and budget. The natural features of the site and the character of existing structures and surroundings provide rich sources of inspiration. The unique opportunities and constraints of each project result in a body of work that varies in style and scale, but that is unified by simple, spirited, elegant solutions.
As a sole proprietor, Lee provides leadership and attention to detail throughout each phase of design and construction. Small projects are important projects. Environmental sensitivity is encouraged through building form as well as through resource-efficient materials and systems.
Lee has been practicing architecture in San Francisco since 1996. She received her B.A. and Masters degrees from Yale University and its School of Architecture. Prior to starting her own firm, Lee worked for Mattingly Thaler Architecture, and for Gordon Chong & Partners. She has also taught in the Interior Design departments at the Art Institute of California at San Francisco, and at San Jose State University.
